East Wing

East Wing has 27 beds, 20 beds are male, and 7 beds are available for either male or female use. East Wing provides care for residents in single rooms over two floors and has access to its own secured garden area and social spaces.

The doors are locked and accommodate male residents. Staff provide a high level of support and care for residents with moderate to severe forms of dementia and often have other physical health needs.

Ongoing Assessment

To ensure the right care for those in our care

Residents present with behaviours that challenge that have not been able to be managed in other care settings. Some residents may also have enduring mental health problems and developed dementia. Often residents in this unit are mobile and walking unaided in the environment which is structured and highly supervised.

Within the unit there is a mixed sex unit for physical high dependency with a separate communal and dining area. This is a mixed sex environment and the residents would typically have physical needs that require high levels of nursing interventions and assistance but continue to present with challenging behaviours that are not able to be managed in other care settings

Care Pathway

To maximise freedom and independent living

Usually, all residents will have been granted a Deprivation of Liberty Safeguard by the Local Authority, while other residents may be placed here under other parts of the Mental Act, 1983, such as section 117 aftercare or a Community Treatment Order.

East Wing will continuously assess residents and once a resident has reached a stage where they could be managed in a more typical care setting, we will facilitate a resident’s move in order to ensure they are cared for within the most appropriate and least restrictive environment.
